Newbiggin Boxing Club’s light middleweight prospect Lewis Scott took part in his third professional fight at the Newcastle Centre for Sport.
He was up against the unbeaten Latvian Borislav Zalkov, with the fight being promoted by Mark Clauzell, of Ringstar Promotions.
The fight got underway with both fighters looking tense as they worked each other out. Then 90 seconds into the first round, a left uppercut to the head of Zalkov which forced him to cover up. Scott immediately switched to the body, flooring Zalkov with massive shots to both sides of the ribs.
After being counted to eight, he carried on but Scott hit him with four body shots, sending Zalkov to the floor. The referee had no choice but to call the fight off at 2min 39secs in the first round.
Scott is now looking to be out early in the new year.
