ASHINGTON ABC had three boxers in action at Blakelaw Social Club in Newcastle.

First up for Ashington was Shane Wood, returning from a long spell out with injury to box Brad Fisher from Middlesborough ABC.

In a hard fought contest Wood lost out.

Josh Johnstone then lost out on points to Darlington’s Peter Smith, who has yet to lose a fight in six bouts.

The fight was a close contest with both boxers doing themselves proud.

The third fight of the night for Ashington’s young boxers was Brandon Freeman, who boxed Redcar’s Bobby Dalton.

As with his previous fight in recent weeks, Freeman proved too much for his opponent with an early stoppage in the first round.

Coach Alan Buller commented that all of his boxers deserved praise for the way that they performed.
