GOLF clubs in the county are backing a new regional initiative aimed at encouraging more people to take up the sport.

A wide range of activities are taking place to make it easier for people to give golf a go.

Arcot Hall Golf Club in Cramlington will be hosting a Get into Golf course starting on Thursday, April 19, at 7pm for women only.

There will be six one-hour sessions with PGA professional Carl Nicholls, costing £10.

Lisa Ferrie, county development officer for the Northumberland County Golf Partnership, said: “This is a great opportunity for adults to not only enjoy their first taste of golf, but to benefit from a series of lessons that will give them the basic skills needed to play the game.

“The group lessons mean you will be with people in a similar position so are a chance to socialise, meet people and get fit through playing golf.

“The golf lessons will suit anyone starting out in the game or someone trying to get back into the swing of things.”
