Josh defies injury to clinch majority verdict

ASHINGTON Amateur Boxing Club kick started their campaign by travelling to the Lamplight Centre in Stanley, County Durham, for their first bout of the season.

Josh Johnstone stepped up against West Durham’s Callum Spoors.

The first round was an even affair with both boxers not giving an inch, which was followed by a similar second.

Johnstone managed to battle through a serious hand injury in the second and third rounds to triumph with a majority verdict.

Coach Alan Buller praised Johnstone: “Josh he is a credit to the club.”
