Junior runners on their marks

BLYTH Running Club are organising junior races on Saturday, July 2, for children under the age of 15.

Races will be held on Blyth beach, with the first starting at 10.15am. Categories are under-6 – 200 metres; under-9 – 400 metres; under-11 – 800 metres; under-13 – 1,200 metres; and under-15 – one mile.

There will be separate races for both boys and girls in each category, with trophies for the first placed runners while all runners will receive a medal.

All ages will be as on the day.

It is hoped that as many as possible will turn up, they just need to register at the beach car park to receive their numbers before the start of the race. There will be a charge of £2 to enter.

This year’s race is being supported by CE-Electric in partnership with England Athletics

Blyth Running Club are currently holding indoor mini athletic sessions for the under-11s every Wednesday at 5pm at Blyth Sports Centre.

Blyth currently have an expanding and active junior section and are looking to recruit new members.
