BLYTH Running Club held their third race in the Summer Cup – a series of seven 2.5-mile races along a route using the promenade and beach path.
A total of 42 runners took part.
First back was Leanne Herron in a time of 15:36, only four seconds outside her senior woman’s record from 2009 – and this after running the Morpeth 10k race the night before, where she finished as first Blyth lady.
Leanne finished 30 seconds in front of Richard Shillinglaw with Julie Lemin a further 11 seconds back in third.
Fastest male was Andrew Henderson in 13:52, and fastest female Julie Clark with 15:29, lowering her female vet course record by a further 25 seconds.
Organisers thanked the marshals, time-keepers and helpers.
On Thursday, August 25, there is a social evening at the Three Horse Shoes which will comprise of a short run and then a talk by Andy Griffin on the early days of the club.

The club will be starting indoor mini athletic sessions after the school holidays with the first on September 7.
The sessions will take place at Blyth Sports Centre at 5pm – and every Wednesday thereafter.
Blyth currently have an expanding junior section and are looking to recruit new members.
