NEWBIGGIN Boxing Club travelled to Middlesbrough last Friday but found the situation tough.
Charlie Burt and Nathan Stewart both lost controversial split points decisions at the Brambles Farm boxing show.
Burt is in action again this week at the Grainger Park show at Throckley, taking on C. Summerville of Grainger Park.
Also on this show is Brandon Singer, looking for his third straight win.
This week also saw Newbiggin’s Lewis Scott continue his championship run against last year’s rival Zac Burton of Manchester.
After four of the best rounds of amateur boxing for a long time, Scott lost a close 24-20 decision.
But the performance was so good Scott will now box a final eliminator for the Tyne Tees Wear middleweight belt against Bilton Hall’s Sean Tolson.
This will be at Newbiggin Sports Centre on Friday, November 18.
There will be a full supporting line-up of boxing and the winner will take on Sunderland’s middleweight champion, Jake Bonnalie, after Christmas.
Officials at the club thanked the bus and cars full of supporters who travelled to Wakefield to support Scott’s championship run. It was appreciated and is important in the career of any boxer.
