A TOTAL of 14 teams from eight primary schools across Blyth and Bedlington entered the annual Year 4 netball festival run by the School Sport Programme.

They played a four-a-side modified version of the game, played on a small court.

The teams were divided in to two sections, and all teams in each section played each other, with the winners and runners up going through to a semi final.

After some frantic early play, the teams settled in to a routine and improved their play as the afternoon progressed.

Four teams qualified for the semi finals: Malvins Close Primary played against Cambois First School, whilst Bede Primary 1 played against New Delaval Primary 1.

After two close games, it was Malvins Close and Bede who progressed to the final.

The final was a closely fought contest with some good play from both teams, but at the end of the game it was Malvins Close who came out on top by 6 points to 5.
