MORPETH RFC Under-14s maintained their winning start to the season with a 27-19 away win over local rivals Alnwick on Sunday.

Morpeth took control early and dominated through their strong pack of mobile forwards after second row Joe Turnbull put the Mitford Road youngsters ahead in the first ten minutes.

Further tries followed from scrum-half Will Allen, hooker and captain Michael Chattaway and second row Graham Milne, who was playing out of position in the centre.

Alnwick fought their way back into the game with three tries and strong running from their backs.

However, the result was never in doubt and a second Turnbull try followed. Fly-half Sam Eyres added to the five-try count with one conversion.
