Newbiggin Boxing Club’s boxers have been putting in solid displays in recent weeks.

Joe Tyers, 2013 national schoolboy champion, beat Sunderland’s Carlo Geraldi then claimed another victory while representing England against Scotland.

Rhys Harmison overturned Lambton Streets’ Ben Grassam last week, then on Friday also beat Geraldi.

Jimmy Tyers has moved to the CYP national semi finals on Sunday following a series of quality performances.

Newbiggin’s next home event will be held on Friday, November 29, at the Newbiggin Leisure Centre.

Lewis Scott continues his professional career on Saturday, December 7, at Newcastle. No opponent has been named as yet.

The fight is on the undercard of Martin Ward’s commonwealth title fight at the Newcastle Centre for Sport, West Road.

Elsewhere, there was a surprise for regulars at the Shakespeare Tavern in Guidepost when former IBF World cruiserweight champion Glenn McCrory called in with his championship belt for a drink and a chat.
