A powerlifter from Blyth is looking for sponsorship to help him compete for Britain in an international competition.
Steve Sherman has been selected to represent Team GB in the International Powerlifting Federation Junior/Sub World Championships.
The competition is being held in Szczyrk in the south of Poland from Monday, August 29, to Saturday, September 3.
But to compete, Sherman has to fund the trip, so he is appealing to local businesses for potential sponsorship.
Sherman, currently studing at Wallsend’s Tyne Metropolitan College for a diploma in fitness, coaching and leisure operations, dedicates the majority of his spare time to powerlifting .
He is a member of the Parkhead and Wansbeck Powersports Club at Ashington’s Hirst Welfare Centre, in Alexandra Road, and is coached by Fred McKenzie, a record-breaking former powerlifter.
Alongside his physical powerlifting training, Sherman helps out with McKenzie’s training courses and is already a level-one instructor for the GB Powerlifting Federation.
Sherman holds various British records and has won several regional titles.
Anyone willing to support Sherman with sponsorship for the contest can email him at stevensherman2007@ hotmail.co.uk or call him on 07951 812624.
