Rees keeps his unbeaten record

NEWBIGGIN Boxing Club’s Bill Sankey travelled to Shildon to take on Dunston’s Josh Blenkiron.

Sankey took control from the first bell but had to box clever to fend off Blenkiron’s constant forward pressure.

After three rounds Sankey took the points decision.

The following day, Ben Rees and Nathan Stewart travelled to Middlesbrough.

Rees boxed East Middlesbrough’s Liam Lillystone and from the first bell he was in charge with straight shots being too much for his opponent, forcing a count at the end of the first.

At the start of the second, the same continued, forcing two more counts and the fight being was stopped – making it three out of three for Rees.

Stewart was next in for a re-match with Joe Winchurch. After three hard fought rounds, Stewart lost a close points decision.

Next for Newbiggin, Rees travels to Aycliffe on Friday, looking to make it four out of four and Lewis Scott is confirmed to be fighting Scottish light middleweight champion, Tommy Philbin, on December 16 at Willpowburn, Alnwick.
