Robert hits his first hole in one with a six iron

A YOUNG golfer from Stakeford scored his first hole in one on Saturday.

Robert Smiles used a six iron to ace the 166-yard 10th on the Lakes Course at Longhirst Hall on Saturday.

The 16-year-old, who attends Morpeth’s King Edward Sixth High School, was playing with his two brothers Chris and Jamie and friend Ashley Lyall in the Stuart Wilson Memorial Trophy.

The 11 handicapper’s hole in one was also witnessed by his father, Steven, who was playing in the group in front.
