BLYTH youth rugby’s under-12s, under-13s and under-14s recently held a presentation night at their Plessey Road ground.

The under-14s had a fantastic season in their first year together, losing only two games and winning all away fixtures.

This team also produced five players who represented the coast area team of the Northumberland RFU – Connall Martin, Robbie Mitchelson, Jordan Thompson, Josh Brown and Nat Lynn.

Taking the honours at the presentation evening where captain Thompson; player of the season, Mitchelson, most improved player; Martin, top try scorer; and Kai Burn, top tackler.

The under-13s finished the season as beaten finalists in the county plate.

Taking the honours for them where Jay Robinson, player of the season; and Elliott Moore, most improved.

The under-12s honours went to Tom Marshall, player of the season; and Scott Bates, most improved.

As this was the 50th anniversary season of Blyth Rugby Football Club, special awards were given for outstanding achievement to Owen Nicholson, Jay Robinson and Tom Marshall, with Marshall and Robinson also accepted into Northumberland’s Rugby School of Excellence.

Blyth under-17s to under-13s train every Sunday at the Plessey Road ground and anybody wishing to give it a go can call in at the club or call Kenny Robinson on 07793 807857.
