Running club to hold junior races for its youngsters

BLYTH Running Club is organising junior races for children under the age of 15.

There will be five categories of races on Saturday, July 7, which will take place on Blyth beach with the first group off at 10.15am.

The categories are: under-6s, 200 metres; under-9s, 400m; under-11s, 800m; under-13s, 1200m; under-15s, one mile.

There will be separate races for both boys and girls in each category, with trophies for the first placed runners in each race while all runners will receive a medal.

All ages will be as on the day of the races.

It is hoped that as many children as possible will turn up, registering at the beach car-park to register before the start of the race.

There will be a charge of £2 to enter.

Blyth Running Club are currently holding some indoor mini athletic sessions for juniors at Blyth Sports Centre on Wednesdays at 5pm. All sessions will be held by UK Athletics qualified coaches and will last about one hour.

Blyth currently have an expanding and active junior section and are looking to recruit new members.

Anyone interested in running aged between nine and 17 should turn up at Blyth Sports Centre on Monday nights at 6.45pm with their parents or e-mail enquiries@blythrunningclub.org.uk
