Sam Dodd wins second autumn relay in a row

THE 26th running of Blyth Running Club’s Autumn Relays saw a record turnout of 16 teams.

An impressive 19 runners took part for the first time, whereas Steve Gillespie has run all 26.

The winning team was Sue Browning, Dave Potts and Sam Dodd, the second consecutive year Dodd has won.

17-year-old Jake Jansen was the fastest on the night with a time of 12:40, just outside recording a time in the all time top 20, and Heather Christopher was the quickest lady (15:09).

The runners thanked marshals and timekeepers who ensured the event went off smoothlye.

The first race of the club’s popular Winter Series will be on Wednesday, November 21, further details are on the club’s website and on the noticeboard at Blyth Sports Centre.

On Sunday, December 2, the 53rd running of the Blyth Sands race will take place. Runners receive handicaps according to age and sex.
