SIX members of Butokokan Judo headed to Westgate Centre for Sport to compete in the BJC grade and vets championships, achieving fantastic results for their first ever competition outside of the club.

The club’s youngest member Brandon Douglass fought in the under-6 category, gaining a runners-up medal, but most importantly winning his first Judo fight.

Secondly, Alex Brown in the girls’ under-10 yellow bars category, fought hard in a large section to attain the silver in that group.

Next up was Cameron Chisholm in the boys’ under-10 yellow bars category.

He produced some great techniques to secure the silver in his category.

Adam Douglass was in the boys’ under-16 yellow belt group, coming back strongly from his first fight to win the rest for another silver.

Carl Robertson competed in the senior orange belt category and did well to secure the silver.

Finally, Jack Murphy in the primary under-8 put in an outstanding effort which paid off as he won all of his fights by ippon to achieve the gold.

All students did extremely well showing that all their hard work paid off by achieving these results.

Butokokan Judo is located at Newbiggin Sports Centre and training is every Saturday afternoon.
