ROUND six of the Ian Whillis Memorial Trophy competition saw another good turnout of players looking to secure the few remaining spots for August’s grand finals night.

John Stevenson and Micky Luke would prove to be too hot to handle on the night.

Luke got through tough ties against Scott Jackson and Graham Mills before coming from 3-1 down to take the spoils against Jamie Martin 4-3.

Stevenson also had his work cut out to reach his final with wins against Micky Hoffman and Steve Wanless to set up his final with Chris Dobey.

Stevenson took a 3-1 lead only to see a brave fight back by Dobey to take the game to sudden death, but Stevenson’s experience prevailed taking the final leg with high scoring and good finishing to book his place in August.

The ladies’ Milton Anderson Memorial competition also completed round six with two ladies who have been knocking at the door in the previous few weeks finally getting their rewards.

Debbie Waugh showed good form against Janice Fairhurst and Jackie Smith to take her place in finals night, and Rachel Brown also got her reward for recent good performances with excellent wins against Natalia Kelly and Lillian Frost.

The competition continues on Monday night. For more information contact Paul Smith on 07717 313089 or visit dartsnortheast.com
