BEDLINGTON Station WMC hosted the Mark Williams Memorial Dart Trophy tournament penultimate round seven sponsored by Coors Brewers.
This week the leading contenders were Mark Stevenson, Tony Wood, Micky Luke and previous multiple champion Davy Richardson.
Stevenson was in commanding form with victories against Arthur Dobey, Chris Dobey, Robbie Parker and Matty Willis to gain his final place against Richardson, who was also unstoppable against Tony Hardy, Michael Gradwell, Mark Wilson, Dave Prins and Graeme Stoddart.
Micky Luke made his mark on the night with fine wins over Tony Hardy, Darren Shields, Adam Young and Michael Gradwell to reach his final against Tony Wood, who beat a determined Debbie Waugh before conquering Rob Stanley, Matty Willis and Robbie Parker.
Stevenson and Richardson went to the oche for the first final, and scores of 96, 85, 140 and 100 in 19 darts gave Stevenson the lead.
Then 100, 140 and 80 in another 19-dart leg put him further ahead before Richardson struck back with 140, 140 and 97 in a 16-dart leg before he levelled in a 17-dart game featuring 100, 100, 83 and 134 scores.
But Stevenson was to take glory kicking off the final leg with 180, 95 and 96.
Wood set the second final in motion against Micky Luke 100, 100 and 180 in 16 darts to secure the first leg.
Luke hit back with 80, 100, 83 and 99.
Scores of 79, 100, 92 and 100 gave Wood the advantage again, which he would not let slip as he powered home in the winning leg with 125, 60, 140, 140 checking out double 18 in a 13-dart game to book his finals place on August 25.
