Blyth Running Club held their 28th annual Autumn Relay with Stevie Gillespie maintaining his record of running in every one.
The persistent drizzle from earlier in the day had fortunately stopped and this resulted in a record turn-out for the event.
The winning team were Claire Mason, Alice Dungworth and Joseph Woods who finished more than 20 seconds in front of the team of Simon Sellars, Jake Masterman and Andrew Henderson.
Brad Clough was the fastest on the night with 12:12, and Alice was the quickest female with a time of 15:03.
The first race of the club’s popular Winter Series will be on Wednesday, November 12. Further details are on www.blythrunningclub.org.uk and on the noticeboard at Blyth Sports Centre.
On Sunday, December 7, is the 55th running of the Blyth Sands race, which is unique in the north east for the handicapping system it uses. Runners receive handicaps according to age and sex.
Further details and entry forms are available at Blyth Sports Centre and on the club’s website.
