THE sixth and final race of Blyth Running Club’s summer cup series saw 38 complete the course around the promenade and along the coastal path.
First back was Susanne Hunter, running a series personal best, just managing to hold off fast finishing Peter Brown as they were both given the same time, with Julie Lemin in third place.
Sam Dodd and Heather Christopher set the fastest male and female times on the night.
Congratulations to Andrea Scott, the overall winner of the 2011 Summer Cup with a low total score of 24 points from the 11th, 1st, 5th and 7th placed finishes attained in the four races she ran.
Louise Rawlinson finished sixth in the last race to obtain second overall with 31 points.
In joint third place were Terry McCabe and Kevin Freeman, six points adrift with a total of 37.
The team event saw Scott winning again as part of her team, ‘Andrea and her Boys’, with Dave Bradley, Dave Roberts, Adam Robinson, Dale Smith, and Steve Walker. The team achieved three wins, one third and two fifth place finishes for a total of 110 points.
In second place, on 92 points, were ‘The Broons’, who like the winners had three wins but lacked consistency in the other three races, and in third with 78 points were ‘The Foxtrotters’.
The next race for club members is the annual relays, full details are on the club’s website and noticeboard.
