CRAMLINGTON Community Tennis Programme Boys’ Under-12s won their LTA Aegon tennis league without losing a match.

The team of Sam Brown, Jack Quinn, Peter Musgrave, Jamie Elliot, Suyog Gurung and Michael Ray played against teams from Northumberland, Tyne and Wear and Durham.

Team manager Judith Musgrave said: “I am really proud of all the boys, they all played their part in the team being successful.”

Head coach Phil Barron added: “It can be tough to play in a team as tennis is an individual sport, but the boys have supported each other brilliantly and done really well.”

Elsewhere, the Cramlington programme saw success with several of its top players either finishing first or second during the winter/spring tennis series.

Players had to play in tournaments all over the country to win points.

Barron, who works individually with all the players, said: “It’s been a terrific reward for all the hard work each player has put in over the winter..”
