The Morpeth Duathlon last weekend was the first foray into the new season for many Tri Northumberland members.

Numbers were slightly depleted due to injury and illness, but there were some great early season performances.

In the standard distance event, leading the way home in an impressive tenth place was Lee Tait in just over two hours. Craig Gair was next in 34th place.

There was a keenly contested race between training partners Iain Fenwick and Brian Shiel, which Fenwick just edged in 54th place with Shiel only just a minute behind in 61st.

Ryan Shiel completed Tri Northumberland’s standard distance contingent in 79th place.

In the sprint distance, Iain Katz finished in a fine 45th place in 1:22.33, despite having a chain issue on the run in to Morpeth.

Super veteran Andy Gowens finished 90th with Ant Thornton completing Tri Northumberland’s sprint distance line up in 151st place.
