Three Ashington boxers were in action recently, with mixed results from the ring.
Josh Johnstone followed up a win two weeks ago with another positive result against Jacob Cliff, of Lambton Street, with the contest held at Hylton Castle Workingmen’s Club.
Both boxed well throughout with Johnstone taking command in the third round with some great combinations before he eventually came away with a well deserved win.
That fight was quickly followed by a bout for young Kallum Sproat, who was unfortunate to lose out to Hartlepool host boxer Aaron Stevenson.
The fight was close and there will be plans for a rematch.
Next up for the Ashington club was female national champion Daryle Jobling, who fought host boxer Cara Morgan.
From the bell, Jobling came out strong and persistent pressure but her opponent on the back foot with two standing counts followed up by the referee stopping the fight in the second round.
Ashington coach Alan Buller was full of praise for all three boxers.
