A young golfer is proving where there is a Will there is a way as his career takes shape.
Bedlingtonshire Golf Club member Will Herron has been reflecting on his success over the last 12 months.
The 17-year-old, a pupil at St Benet Biscop RC school and playing off a handicap of three, has broken into the Northumberland County under 18 squad, playing against teams from Cumbria, Durham and South Scotland.
In a number of County organised competitions he has recorded the lowest gross score.
Last summer Will qualified for the Andalucia (Spain) Junior Open, gaining valuable experience alongside some of the UK’s best junior golfers.
The early part of this year has seen Will concentrate on his studies at school where he is hoping for some good results in his first year A-levels.
With the golf season now in full swing Will is confident that, going into a number of regional and national events, he can maintain the level of success that he achieved last season.
He competes in the St Andrews Boys Open during the first week in August.
Will is a member of the Bedlingtonshire Golf Club’s Junior team which is also having a successful season to date with the possibility of the team representing the region at national level later in the season.
