More track and field success for running club

BLYTH Running Club members have been showing their versatility by competing over various distances.

At the recent cross country at Wrekenton, Josh Fiddaman moved up an age category but still had an outstanding run to finish in second position, with Connor Marshall fifth.

In the U17 boys, Joseph Woods was another Blyth athlete to finish in second position while Chris Sheffer finished just out of the medals in fourth place.

In the U15 girls, Erin Scott just edged Alice Dungworth to take the third position.

For the Senior Ladies, Phillippa Baxter had an excellent run to finish in fourth place overall.

On the same day, Charlie Hedley was running for Northumberland Schools in the Inter-Counties and she had an excellent run to finish in ninth position overall and third place for Northumberland.

The following weekend, it was the turn of the indoor competitors as the North East Championships took place.

Making his debut at this level, Daniel N’jai can be pleased with his bronze medal in the high jump and a silver medal in the triple jump. Although not at her best Bethan Sproat claimed silver in the high jump.

Competing in the Vets 60M race, Save Swalwell continues to improve and set a personal best as he took the gold medal.
