Ashington seconds had to dig deep before claiming a maximum points victory over Backworth seconds at Langwell Crescent on Saturday.
Batting first, the home side were in deep trouble at 20-3 and 50-5 before in-form skipper Martin Thewlis and youngster Ian Sharkey set about a rescue mission.
The pair put on 90 for the eighth wicket, steering their side to an all out score of 182 just before the end of their allotted 45 overs, Thewlis ending with 62 and Sharkey 48.
In reply, Backworth were going along well but lost wickets at crucial times and were eventually bowled out for 140 in the 39th over.
Graham Whitworth, Steve Williams and Thewlis took three wickets each with one for Matty Storey.
