Spartans Under 15s victory against Ponteland

BEATING the weather, Blyth hoped to continue their fine form and thankfully for them the result says they did, however a lot of credit has to go to a hard-working Ponteland side that can count themselves very unlucky.

Against the run of play, Blyth took the lead when Liam Wall got his seventh in three games.

However, Ponteland did not let that dampen their spirits and within ten minutes had struck a fine equaliser to go into half time 1-1.

Chance after chance was going begging by both sides, but an incredible period of the match was to follow.

Blyth’s Jordan Yeoman unleashed an incredible shot that nearly broke the back of the net.

Ponteland did not let their heads go down and found themselves awarded a penalty.

The penalty was missed, but Ponteland continued to attack, being awarded a free kick just outside the box, and this time they made no mistake, making it 2-2.

This spurred Blyth into life, and within ten minutes were 4-2 up. First, Samuel Johnson turned provider with a great cross straight into the path of Liam Wall for his second of the game, then Samuel himself got on the score sheet after a fine run and turn to shoot low into the corner of the net.

Credit to Ponteland who reminded Blyth the season is far from over and if their aspirations are to be realised this season they must play better than this.
