Ashington maintained their promotion push with a comprehensive ten-wicket victory over Morpeth at Longhirst on Saturday.
The home side were quickly in trouble with opener Cam Mackay caught by Matty Storey at second slip off Callum Storey from the third ball.
In the sixth, Sonu Singh held onto a return catch offered by Poxton then Morpeth’s troubles got even worse when Adam Lawn had his stumps shattered by the pacy Storey at 19-3.
However, skipper Charles Anderson and Truscott curbed Morpeth’s early enthusiasm and grafted hard in a stand of 41 for the fourth wicket.
Greg Williams, who brought himself into the attack for the 23rd over, bowled Truscott with his second delivery then caught and bowled Jamie Forster.
Anderson on 35 clipped a ball from Chris Watson to the mid-wicket boundary where he was caught by Matty Storey, and from 80-6, Williams took another couple of wickets with one each for Watson and the returning Singh.
Morpeth were bowled out for 96 from the last ball of the 48th over with Williams taking 4-23 from 12 overs with two wickets each for Storey (2-10 from eight); Singh (2-22 from nine) and Watson (2-22 from 15).
Ashington opener Daniel Grant set the tone for his side hitting three consecutive boundaries in the first over.
Thereafter, the right hander totally dominated the bowling, reaching his half century in the 17th and in the same over smashed a six before ending unbeaten on 68, which included 12 boundaries.
Neil Wood meanwhile found the ropes on five occasions – the latter in the 20th over which took Ashington to victory – as he finished undefeated on 30.
Along with Grant the pair shared an unbroken opening stand of 99 in only 64 minutes.
