Terriers crash out of Senior Cup
BEDLINGTON Terriers fell to a 5-1 defeat to Newcastle United Reserves on Tuesday night in the Northumberland Senior Cup.
The reserves, fielding two full internationals and a number of under 19 and under 21 youth internationals in their ranks took the lead after 10 minutes when Paul Dummett found the net, despite a clear hand ball not being given in the build up, much to the dismay of the Terriers faithful.
Patrick Nzunzi added a second after 37 minutes when he collected the ball just inside the reserves half and ran through with defenders backing off, to smash a stunning effort into the top right corner of the goal.
Just before half time Bedlington found themselves back in the game when top scorer Anthony Shandran crashed the ball beyond Jak Alnwick.
The hosts however started the second half brightest with substitute Alex Nicholson scoring in the 49th minute before late goals from Phil Airey and Dan Taylor sealed the place in the final for Newcastle United Reserves.
