ASHINGTON Cricket Club were mourning the loss of Roy Spicer, a club trustee, who passed away last week.
Dickie Henderson, a close friend of Roy’s as well as being a club trustee and a former treasurer and chairman for 15 years with the Langwell Crescent Club, said: “Roy will be sadly missed by all at the club – as well as the older members, the younger ones knew him as well.
“He never missed a club function and rarely missed a first team fixture.
“Going back over the years when the club had Terry Etwaroo, Victor Eddy and Collie Solomon as professionals, Roy’s efforts in acquiring sponsorship were monumental.”
Roy’s funeral service will be held on Friday at Trinity Church in Ashington at 10.30am.
Cremation at Cowpen Crematorium will be for immediate family only.
Refreshments will be held at Ashington Cricket Club.
