A maritime festival held at the weekend has been hailed a success as hundreds descended to enjoy everything that was on offer.

Blyth Maritime Festival took place over the weekend, with a variety of events including a skiff rowing boat race and a joint exercise between Blyth All Weather Lifeboat and the RNLI that saw a man who had gone overboard rescued.

Displays of towing, anchoring and berthing techniques were also shown by the crews.

The two-day festival saw many boats, yachts, kayaks and canoes grace the river, and the maritime mining museum received more than £1,600 with all profits going to keeping the all weather lifeboat afloat.
