CAST and crew of a pantomime society are gearing up to entertain audiences once again.

The festive members of Seaton Delaval Pantomime Society are celebrating their 40th year in the business since their first production of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs in 1973.

Every year since they have performed a pantomime for local residents, first performing in the Seaton Delaval & Holywell Community Centre before moving to the Seaton Delaval Arts Centre in 2007.

A dedicated cast of young and old alongside adult volunteers behind the scenes have ensured the organisation has gone from strength to strength over its 40 years.

And from this weekend, the society will be putting on Aladdin – the sixth time the group have produced the family favourite.

Society chairman Mark Pringle said: “After months of rehearsals we are really looking forward to opening the doors on our show and our patrons joining in with the anniversary celebrations.

“The show is packed full of comedy, song and dance with a sprinkling of panto magic guaranteed.

“Our motto has always been ‘An amateur company with professional standards’ which is something we still follow after many years.”

The curtain rises on Aladdin on Saturday and runs through to Saturday, December 8, at the Seaton Delaval Arts Centre, with evening and matinee performances available.

Tickets are priced at £7 for adults and £6 for children/concessions.

Bookings can be made by calling the box office on (0191) 237 5460 or online at www.seatondelavalartscentre.com
