A NEW online gallery is showcasing images of Northumberland through the eyes of local people.

Would-be snappers have been sending in their best shots as part of a Northumberland County Council competition.

The council received more than 700 images and has now published a selection of the best pictures at www.northumberland.gov.uk/gallery

Council leader Jeff Reid said: “There are some really good pictures in this gallery that I’m sure will prove really interesting to people.

“The pictures range from instantly recognisable Northumbrian landmarks, to lesser known aspects of the county.

“There were also some really creative entries that give a new perspective on some of the most photographed buildings or landscapes in Northumberland.”

The best pictures will be used in future council publications, websites and other communications.
