A MALE voice choir is joining a solo singer and a colliery band to perform a special concert which will end with a ‘Last Night of the Proms’ finale.
Backworth Male Voice Choir and soloist Susan Robertson, together with the Jayess Newbiggin Colliery Band, will present the evening of music and song at Blyth School Community College.
The concert is being presented in aid of the Blyth branch of the Royal Victoria Infirmary League of Hospital Friends and will see funds raised by this group since its creation some 40 years ago top the £60,000 mark.
Wine and soft drinks will be offered in the interval for donations to the cause.
Branch secretary Margaret Watson said: “This fantastic sum raised over the years has only been possible because of the generosity of people of the area who have supported events in aid of the league or who have donated prizes and made donations.
“I do hope that this event will be supported in order that the money raised can be used to the direct benefit of people who find themselves in hospital thus making their stay a great deal more comfortable.”
Tickets for the concert are priced at £6.
They are available by calling Margaret on (01670) 352804 or Mary on (01670) 353279.
The concert will take place on Saturday, September 22, at 7.15pm
