GLEEKS everywhere can breathe a sigh of relief, as arguably the best musical comedy-drama to hit our screens for some time has returned.
And with it’s triumphant return to our screens, so too does the mandatory accompanying CD.
As ever the Glee cast do not fail to please, with a brilliant array of songs of new and old with that distinctive twist that help make the music the real star of the show.
Glee: The Music Volume 4 is heaving with songs from the current series – kicking off with the Empire State of Mind, and including some amazing versions of classic songs like I Wanna Hold Your Hand, and River Deep, Mountain High, to a collection of Britney Spears songs, and modern tracks like Teenage Dream and Billionaire, that introduce us to the newest member of Glee.
For me the best song on the album is the Cee-Lo Green song Forget You – it took me a few listens to try and work out who was singing lead vocals before I gave up and reverted to the CD sleeve, where I was more than slightly surprised to see it was guest star Gwyneth Paltrow.
Other cracking tracks include Dirty Dancing’s I’ve Had the Time of My Life, and Just The Way You Are.
All in all, it’s another corker of a Glee album – but in reality, with a show as good as this, the album is always going to be Glee-tastic!
