A NUMBER of concerts are being planned to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Cramlington Folk Club.

These will take place at the club’s base at the Hind in Dewley, and at Concordia Leisure Centre.

They will see the return of artists including Prelude, Pete Scott and club founder Terry Dean.

The club, set up in 1972 to encourage the performing of folk and acoustic music, meets at the Hind on Tuesdays at 8pm to both play and listen to music.

A special CD is also being produced to mark the anniversary – featuring contributions from regulars – which will be available from the club.

Prelude and Pete Scott will perform on Friday, September 7, while Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies, and Ribbon Road will be on the following day, both starting at 8pm at the Hind.

Later in the month, on Saturday, September 29, Elbow Jane and Mike Silver, will be at Concordia at 8pm, and on Saturday, October 6, Tom McConville Band and Reel Gentlemen will be at the Hind, also at 8pm.

Tickets are £10 per concert, £17.50 for two concerts, or £30 for all four.
