Her Alnwick-based business, Lovely Locks, is now helping women suffering hair loss through cancer treatment or alopecia across Northumberland and Tyneside.
Natalie said: “Losing your hair when you’re a lady is a massive thing.

“I was 40 at the time and it came out so fast. At first there was a tiny spot on the back of my head about the size of a 5p piece but six weeks later I didn’t have anything left. I thought I was dying.
“I really didn't want to go through all the pain of injections in my head and decided to embrace this condition and have fun having a different hair style whenever I wanted.
“At the time I went to a wig fitting shop in Newcastle but it was always a real trek and I always felt that it would be great if other women in that position didn’t have to travel so far.”

Natalie did the required training and secured a contract to supply wigs to Northumbria and Newcastle hospitals.
Wigs range hugely in price from £60 to over £1,000 for those made of human hair but financial support is available through NHS vouchers.
“Most are made from acrylic and they’re lovely and soft,” says Natalie.
She also provides a customer fitting service.

“Women come from all over the place now but there still aren’t enough people who know about it,” said Natalie.
