Aston Martin’s radical joint project with the Red Bull F1 team – the Valkyrie AMR Pro – is to make a rare public appearance this weekend.

The track-only version of the already mind-boggling Valkyrie hypercar will be among the vehicles on display at this year’s Carfest South – only the second time it’s been seen in public after being  unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show.

The 6.5-litre V12 racer has been developed by Aston Martin and Red Bull’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey to provide 25 lucky owners with an even more powerful, even faster version of the striking road car. Sadly, though, car fans won’t get to see its 1,000+bhp in action as it will only be on static display.

The Valkyrie AMR Pro is just one of hundreds of spectacular cars that will be on show at the annual fundraising festival for Children in Need.

Also in the line-up are the latest Aston Martin DBS Superleggera, the Ferrari LaFerrari, Lamborghini Huracan Performante Spyder, Ford Mustang Bullitt and McLaren 720S.

Many of those cars will be taking to CarFest’s new track on Laverstoke Park Farm, Hampshire. Designed by Formula 1 legends Jody Scheckter and F1 legend Ross Brawn, the track comprises a series of corners replicating iconic race tracks from around the world, including the swimming pool complex at Monaco.

The pair have also had an influence on the line-up of cars, with Mike Hawthorne’s 1955 Le Mans Winning Jaguar D-Type, Ayrton Senna’s 1984 Toleman-Hart F1 car and John Surtees’ F5000 car among classic racing vehicles in attendance.

Alongside the cars, the festival’s famous music line-up features headline acts including Texas, James Bay, Reef, Paloma Faith, Razorlight, Clean Bandit, TheProclaimers, The X Factor 2018 Winners Rak Su, and Richard Ashcroft.

Some of the cooking scene’s top talent will be joining the CarFest Kitchen, including Joe Wicks The Body Coach and Bake Off winner Candice Brown. They’ll be joined by James Martin, Raymond Blanc and Michelin Star Chef Atul Kochhar in the kitchen during the weekend.

In the last six years CarFest south and its North counterpart have raised £10.5 million for BBC Children in Need, whilst entertaining more than 600,000 festival-goers.
