Donation to school's outdoor learning area
A school has received support for plans to build a nature area thanks to a housebuilder.
Barratt Homes is supporting Stobhillgate First School in their plans to create a nature area on the school grounds to encourage outdoor learning.
Through its Community Fund initiative, Barratt Developments has donated £1,000 towards the area, as a way of promoting outdoor learning with the children, and highlighting the importance of nurturing the local wildlife on the school grounds.
The donation comes after Barratt Homes worked with the school earlier in the year, to provide a home for the local bird wildlife.
As part of this activity, the children were gifted with a selection of bird boxes, which they then decorated and installed on the school grounds.
Becky Mortimer, sales manager at nearby Barratt Homes South Fields development, said: “We’re delighted that our work with Stobhillgate First School has developed and that we’re able to further support the school with their new nature area.
"It’s wonderful to see the children enjoying the outdoors and learning about the local wildlife, and we hope that our donation will make a big difference to the school and the pupils who attend.”
Glen Whitehead, Headteacher at Stobhillgate First School, said: “It’s been wonderful to work with Barratt Homes this year, and the children have really enjoyed watching the local wildlife on the grounds develop.
"We are always looking for ways to promote outdoor learning and Barratt Homes’ donation towards our new nature area will allow us to continue this.
"The children are very excited for this to take shape, and we look forward to getting it finished ahead of the summer months!”
