Last year, Mowbray Primary School, in Choppington, installed a bike track, which staff and children have said has been brilliant.

The track includes a number of corners and ramps which meander around the forest school area.

Andrew Miller, headteacher, said he was extremely pleased with the bike track.

He said: “We are very excited to be able to expand our curriculum offer.

"It is a fantastic sport for supporting both physical and mental health, as well as developing a love of cycling.

"We are very excited to support children at the start of their cycling journey.”

The Year 5 children have been completing courses to gain their level 1 and level 2 bike ability award.

Mr Miller has started an after school bike club, where children can practice their skills and build upon their cycling confidence.

The group have also been out and about in the local area for some practice on the roads and are planning a bike ride to Wallington later on in the summer term.

Robbie said: "I am really enjoying bike club.

"I have only just learnt to ride a bike.

"It was the best day of my life.”
