This school is the first in Tyneside and Northumberland to use a free wellbeing programme
Wellbeing is topping the timetable at a school that has become the first in Tyneside and Northumberland to adopt a new, free programme.
Staff from Nuffield Health Newcastle Hospital and Nuffield’s gym in Gosforth launched the new School Wellbeing Activity Programme at Benton Dene Special School in Longbenton, as part of a country-wide campaign to educate children about positive physical and mental health.
The six-week course was developed following two-years of research and addresses four main areas: physical activity, diet, sleep and emotional resilience.
It includes weekly workshops with Nuffield professionals, and builds upon the school’s current curriculum.
