Latest data from Public Health England, published by Northumberland County Council, reveals the county-wide infection rate was 261.7 positive cases per 100,000 on December 29 – its highest level since early November.
There have been 838 positive cases in Northumberland over the seven days up to December 29.
By comparison, the infection rate was 236.4 on December 28 and 184.2 on December 27.
Northumberland is now in the highest Tier 4 ‘stay at home’ level of coronavirus restrictions.
Liverpool, in Tier 3, has a Covid infection rate of 206.1.
