Customers are now being invited to book online, via the Active Northumberland website or app, to secure a place.

Members can book 14 days in advance and non-members can make bookings up to seven days in advance.

Booking is essential as numbers will be reduced to ensure social distancing.

As a result, the exercise classes will only be resuming in the nine key sports centres – Ashington, Blyth, Concordia, Ponteland, Prudhoe, Riverside in Morpeth, The Swan Centre in Berwick, Wentworth in Hexham and Willowburn in Alnwick.

Classes include dancercise, Pilates, spinning, yoga, HIIT, Circuits, Body Pump, Body Balance and more.

Timetables for each centre can be found on the Active Northumberland website www.activenorthumberland.org.uk

Mark Warnes, Chief Executive of Active Northumberland, said: “While the doors to our sports and leisure centres re-opened in April, under the new government regulations, re-opening has been phased, with initially only gym and swimming sessions permitted.

“From May 17, once again our customers will be able to enjoy the fantastic range of exercise classes that we lay on for all ages and abilities.
