Blyth pub is backdrop for Anth’s new CD cover

Local musician Anth Purdy has taken the South Beach pub back in time to the 1940s with a photoshoot for his latest CD.

“All he did was move some furniture around and add his vintage guitar,” explained Colin Royal, who runs the South Beach. “It was amazing how big a difference it made.”

Anth has been making a big impact on the music scene with his swing-based solo guitar playing in the style of legendary players like Les Paul, and chose the South Beach because he’s actually from the South Beach estate himself.

“He’s a regular here both as a drinker and with the rockabilly band he’s in, the Alley Cats,” added Colin.

“We were delighted when he asked to shoot the CD cover in the bar.”

The CD will be released later this year.
