More than 30 years after they stormed the charts with a string of hits, Bucks Fizz are back and calling into the north east as part of a world tour.
Cheryl Baker, Mike Nolan and Jay Aston will be joined by special guest Bobby McVay on the 70-date Paradise Regained tour that stops in Blyth next month.
Cheryl said: “Having performed several gigs with our friend Stephen Fox, Mike, Jay and I realised that people expect to see four on stage when they see Fizz, so we are delighted to introduce Bobby McVay as our guest singer for the tour.
“I feel he will be a real asset to the band.
“We are really looking forward to being on the road again.
“Performing in a theatre gives us the chance to produce a show that we can really be proud of.
“We truly hope our audiences enjoy hearing the hits once more, together with a few of our lesser known album tracks.”
Jay added: “As a four-piece, the songs will be heard as they were intended to be heard, with four voices rather than three and the dance routines will have the full effect again.”
Bucks Fizz went far beyond their original Eurovision remit and as one of the biggest selling bands of the 1980s they became a global phenomenon.
Eurovision winner Making Your Mind Up became a number one hit across the world selling more than four million copies – helped in part by the legendary skirt-ripping routine hat propelled them to overnight success.
Paradise Regained will be their most comprehensive tour since the 80s, with more than 70 dates in the UK, Ireland, Europe and beyond.
Bucks Fizz will be at the Phoenix Theatre in Blyth, on Friday, May 8, at 8pm.
