A CHARITY which benefits more than 9,000 youngsters is appealing for help to reach its fundraising goal.

Northumberland Clubs for Young People (NCYP) is just £2,250 short of a £75,000 target set last year in celebration of its 75th anniversary.

The charity – formerly the Northumberland Association of Boys Clubs – has supported community-based clubs and youth organisations across Northumberland, Newcastle and North Tyneside since 1935.

Now it is hoping to secure the extra cash, which will go directly towards supporting 100 clubs and benefit youngsters between the ages of 11 and 25, in time for the November 8 deadline.

Jon Niblo, NCYP chief executive, said: “It would be great to hit the magic £75,000 mark.

“Everybody has worked so hard to raise money this year – to be only £2,250 short is very exciting.

“If we can find that extra little bit of money it will not only round off a great year, but will allow us to continue to do our bit to help improve the lives of disadvantaged young people in the region.”

The club runs a wide range of initiatives for young people.
