After a gap of many years, the festival of Nine Lessons and Carols returns to Newbiggin this weekend.
St Bartholomew’s Church, Newbiggin, will host the service on Sunday, December 21, at 6pm. The Rev Peter Sinclair, vicar of the church on the point, said: “The service is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the birth of Jesus at Christmas and perhaps the most famous version of this moving service is the one broadcast on Christmas Eve from Kings College, Cambridge.
“All are welcome to attend our service - which tells the story of the promise and birth of the Messiah and which was first celebrated in 1880 in Truro.”
The service, which also features traditional carols and readings will be followed by mulled wine and mince pies.
