Kids can get crafty at museums this month

Now the decorations are all packed away for another year, families are being urged to beat the post-Christmas gloom with a family outing.

Woodhorn Museum is open all year round, and as well as the permanent displays and temporary exhibitions, on Saturdays during January, there will be fun, hands-on craft activities for the children.

Youngsters can pop in to one of the informal sessions between 11am and 1pm or 1.30pm and 3pm, to make and decorate a bright paper bag lantern to take home.

Young visitors to Morpeth Chantry Bagpipe Museum will also have the chance to get crafty with fun sessions taking place on Saturdays during January between 10am and 2pm.

Admission is free. For more details visit
