A COMEDY night which featured a top comic has raised more than £400 for charity.

The night at Ashington Fooball Club, started with comedians Emily Wood and Andy Arrowsmith before headline act the Lost Voice Guy, aka Lee Ridley.

Speech and language therapist Liz Panton performed a ‘Giving Voice’ song on her Ukulele before a pub quiz.

A total of £400 was raised through a raffle and tombola, for the North East Trust for Aphasia (supporting people with communication difficulties following a stroke and other brain injuries).

Speech and language therapist Julie Carr, who organised the night, said: “I have never seen so many adults crying with laughter all at once.

“The crowd laughed from his first joke, through to his last and lots of people stood for him at the end of his set.

“We would like to thank everyone for their support and Ashington Football Club for their friendly staff and kind donation.”
